On June 30th, 2016, in Misc. Docket No. 16-003, the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas issued an order mandating electronic filing by attorneys in criminal cases in appellate courts, district courts, statutory county courts and constitutional county court.
The implementation schedule is based on the counties’ 2010 Federal Census population. We fall within the population group that is mandated for eFiling by attorneys on January 1st, 2019. We've been offering permissive criminal eFiling since November 1st, 2015.
The office of County Clerk has been in existence in Texas since 1836, superseding the “escribano” of Spanish-Mexican rule.

The county clerk is the record keeper and Registrar for the county, Commissioners' Court, County Court and County Courts at Law.
