To Help You

Victoria County has purchased an electronic voting system in August of 2005. The new system is comprised of direct recording entry voting units and handicapped accessible direct recording entry units. One handicapped unit will be located in each polling location on election day along with several regular units.

Elections Systems and Software (ES&S) is the vendor for the new system. Their iVotronic voting units utilize touch screen technology and triple redundancy to protect every vote cast in an election. Election Systems & Software is the world's most experienced election management company — and the only provider of end-to-end, fully integrated voting solutions to support every phase of the election process.

You may visit ES&S's web site to learn more about the voting system. Click Here to link directly to their site.

A Little History

In the early 70's Victoria County changed from using paper ballots to lever machines. Initially the lever machines were used for absentee and election day with paper ballots continuing for balloting by mail. In the mid 80's early voting in person (formerly absentee) was changed to optically scanned ballots for in person and by mail.

The City of Victoria and Victoria Independent School District also used the lever machines for many years. They stopped using them in the mid-90's when they went exclusively to optically scanned ballots. In May of 2006 the city and school districts began using the new touch screen system.
