To seek the truth, preserve due process of law, and achieve justice through the efficient and effective use of available public resources. 

Sources of our mission are…

Article 2.01 Texas Code of Criminal Procedure - “...shall represent the State in all criminal cases... It shall be the primary duty of all prosecuting attorneys ... not to convict, but to see that justice is done.”

Article 2.02 Texas Code of Criminal Procedure - “They shall not suppress facts or secrete witnesses capable of establishing the innocence of the accused.”

Article 2.03 Texas Code of Criminal Procedure - (a) “It shall be the duty of the attorney representing the State” to supervise peace officers “for neglect or failure of any duty enjoined upon such officer...”  (b) It is the duty... the attorney representing the state and all peace officers to so conduct themselves as to insure a fair trial for both the state and the defendant, not impair the presumption of innocence, and at the same time afford the public the benefits of a free press.”
