On Thursday, September 6, 2012 the Honorable Robert C. Cheshire, Judge Presiding in the 377th Judicial District Court of Victoria County, Texas sentenced Isaac Gonzalez to Life in prison on one count of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Judge Cheshire further sentenced Gonzalez to fifteen years in the penitentiary on two counts of Indecency with a Child. Previously, on August 22nd, 2012, a local Victoria jury found Gonzalez guilty of the Aggravated Sexual Assault and two counts of Indecency.
Evidence presented during the three days of trial showed that Gonzalez began sexually abusing the victim in 2008 when the victim was only ten years of age. Testimony established that Gonzalez was a trusted relative of the victim. The sexual abuse continued over the next three years on multiple occasions, with the last one occurring in the victim’s own home. The victim made an outcry to her mother about two weeks later, and Gonzalez was removed from the home. Investigator Angela Martinez with the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office began her investigation in July of 2011. Ultimately multiple charges were filed against Gonzalez. Gonzalez had no prior criminal history.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys, Johna Stallings and Allison Jones Marek, of the Victoria County District Attorney’s Office.
